Heritage and Nature walks around Aylesbury

News from Aylesbury Garden Town:

Residents are to be helped to discover the Gardenway and introduced to nature that exists nearby through eight self-guided walks which are part of the community engagement programme that is currently underway asking for local people to get involved in co-designing the Aylesbury Gardenway.

Each walk has an easy to read illustrated map and simple step by step directions. The walks are between 1.7 km and 3 km in distance and should take between 25 and 40 minutes for most people. All routes are flat and suitable for walking and cycling and take in different sections of the existing parts of the Gardenway.

Aylesbury Garden Town Chairman Cllr. Steve Bowles said: “The walks will support people living nearby to sections of the existing Gardenway to keep active during the current lockdown and allow them to enjoy green spaces, rivers, and open area."

“Walking and being outside in the fresh air brings great health benefits and these walks are for people of any age and an ideal way for local residents to explore the Aylesbury Gardenway.”

“After their walk we want people to share their thoughts, ideas and suggestions for how the Gardenway could be better designed to make it a suitable place for everyone.”

The self-guided maps can be downloaded from the engagement website, www.aylesburygardenway.co which is also the place where people can upload their photos, videos, comments, and suggestions on the interactive ‘Put a Pin in it’ map.
